A New Mural Comes to Morgantown

On Saturday, April 13 the community came together to create a lasting artistic impression on the City of Morgantown in the form of a mural.  Located on the side of Bratcher's Auto Parts, next to the Butler County Courthouse, the colorful mural contains elements from our county's rich history in agriculture and river trade while giving a nod to our future with technology and education.  More than 150 citizens, ages 2 to 80, joined in the painting of the mural.

The mural was designed a facilitated by professional artist and muralist Andee Rudloff.  " I am so happy to have helped bring something like this to Morgantown," Rudloff said.  "I hope this serves as an artistic spark for the residents and hopefully more things like this continue to find their way into the community."

Josh & Landon Hampton, Morgantown residents and coordinators of the Butler County Arts Guild, helped push this project along, seeking support from the Mayor and City Council.  Landon said the mural was the result of a lengthy effort from many of our community leaders. "It was important that our City Council showed their full support for this project and they did that. Along with Mayor Keown, the council members were behind this from day one and I believe all of them showed up to paint," Landon said.

Be on the lookout for a video in the coming weeks from Beech Tree New's Jeremy Hack documenting the process of the mural.
