National Nursing Home Week

Morgantown Care and Rehab is celebrating National Nursing Home Week.  Day one focused on Homemakers and Hobbies.  The elders and stakeholders celebrated with participating in two fishing trips at a local fishing hole.  Many fish were caught, even a 15 lb fish by stakeholder, Robert Williams.  For those who preferred a more relaxing environment, residents and stakeholders were treated to massages in a relaxing environment by our very own therapy team.

Day two of National Nursing Home week recognizes Mechanics, Woodmakers, and Faith.  This morning our maintenance department worked together to demonstrate the building of a farm table.  Residents and stakeholders gathered on the front porch to enjoy the weather and watch the demonstration.  Once the farm table is complete information will be available regarding
a raffle for the table, which will help benefit the elder quality of life fund.

Day three the residents and stakeholders celebrated the life stories of those who have served in the military and those who work in factories.  For lunch residents and stakeholders enjoyed a traditional sack lunch of fried bologna sandwiches, chips, soft drinks, and a desert.  In the afternoon the residents and stakeholders were entertained by a stories and a performance from members of the Honor Guard, while others toured a local factory.  To keep cool on a warm day the afternoon was topped off with lemon shake ups an a mile long banana split.

Caregiving is all around us!  Some caregivers are out in the open, while others remain silent in the background.  On day four of National Nursing Home Week it was only natural for our home to honor the life stories of caregivers by opening our home for a Dash and Dine.  Community caregivers were invited to come by our home and be treated with a lunch of grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and sides that were prepared by our team.
