Paul Ferguson, my 5th great grandfather, was born circa 1742-1748, the son of James Ferguson, Jr and Agnes Adams Ferguson, one of 12 children. According to familysearch.org records, he married Elizabeth Ann “Annie” Sutton (1742-1824). According to a source shared with ancestry.com, Paul, his wife and some of the children left the Carolinas and moved to Logan County, KY in 1798. In 1799 Paul received a 200-acre land grant on the Gasper River in what is now Butler County, KY. In 1802 he built a cabin there on the beautiful site, possibly still standing. Late in the year 1824 Paul traveled to the north side of Green River to what is now the Dexterville community to visit fellow soldier William Beasley. He died while there on December 30, 1834, and is buried near the site of Mount Vernon Church. Paul and Ann had 9 recorded children, one of which was Sarah Ferguson, my 4th great grandmother born in September 1823 in Ohio County, KY and died circa 1860 at Cromwell in Ohio County, KY.
