MPD fully staffed

On Thursday, May 19th, four Morgantown police officers graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Law Enforcement Basic Training as a part of Class 527.

Officers Seth Felty, Thomas Lane, Luke Mooneyhan, and Tyler Havens completed twenty weeks of basic training in Richmond. It is the first time in Morgantown’s history that four officers were hired and sent to training together. During the program, they received training in law, investigations, driving, defense, weapons, and other basic skills required for service in law enforcement.

All four Morgantown officers graduated in the top five percent of their class academically.

Officer Seth Felty was awarded Fit for Duty due to his outstanding physical performance. He was also recognized for leadership, as he had a command position over other recruits during seventeen weeks of the twenty week program.

As stated by Chief of Police Giles Taylor, Morgantown should take pride in these officers and their achievements. “I’m very proud of them all. We have a group of fine officers here. They are a testament to the state of the city and the city’s commitment to a stable, safe, business, and family environment.”

Congratulations to Officer Felty, Officer Lane, Officer Mooneyhan, and Officer Havens! Thank you for your commitment to serving the City of Morgantown.
