MPD: Drug Arrest on Brownsville Road

On Monday December 16 at approximately 10:00pm Morgantown Police Officer Nathan Barks observed a Silver Dodge Ram 1500 driving recklessly and attempted to make a traffic stop near Aberdeen Grocery.  The operator of the vehicle failed to yield and a brief pursuit ensued.  The operator lost control of the vehicle after turning onto Brownsville Road from Caneyville Road. The operator then attempted to continue fleeing through a field where Officer Barks terminated and observed from the roadway.  The operator ultimately came to rest approximately 100 yards from the roadway due to the vehicle sinking into the mud.  Narcotics and paraphernalia were discovered on the ground and in the vehicle. Further investigation led to the operator, Mr. Phillip R. Thomason( DOB 8/3/85) being located at 765 Brownsville Road after fleeing on foot.  Thomason was charged with possession of controlled substance first degree, methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, expired registration, fleeing and evading police first degree on foot, fleeing and evading first degree in motor vehicle, and driving on a DUI suspended license 3rd degree or more.  Thomason was lodged in the Butler County Jail.
