Morgantown Utilities to Begin Increase in Water and Natural Gas Rates

Morgantown Utilities customers will begin to see higher prices in their utility bills soon.

Effective July 1, Morgantown Utilities will begin an increase in water and natural gas rates.

Natural gas rates will have an increase of three percent and water rates will have an increase of six percent. According to Morgantown Utilities Superintendent Randell Gaskey, the increases will fund gas line extensions, water improvements and maintenance projects for the water plant.

“Morgantown Utilities is committed to providing affordable utility services to all our customers. At this time, with the cost of day to day operations rising, this rate increase is necessary to help offset the rising cost of providing our customers with services,” Gaskey said.
