Morgantown Police Department 2017 Year End Report

Officer Evans, Chief Taylor, Officer Burden, and Captain Burden

Morgantown Chief of Police Giles Taylor presented the following report at the Morgantown City Council meeting on January 11th.
Calls:
3432 dispatched calls for service
134 wrecks
536 traffic enforcement actions
68 domestics
12 pursuits
7744 total number of calls
All calls were answered with a 5 minute average response time.
Improvements:
New tasers for each officer
Security system installed in the police department
Keypad locks on all doors
Upgrades to evidence vault and building for compliance with certification

According to Chief Taylor, the department will achieve accreditation before the end of 2018, becoming one of only 33 accredited departments in the state.  New Officer Jessie Burden was introduced and has a projected academy start date in late March.

Chief Taylor was elected chairman of the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police Legislative Board.
Morgantown Police Department consists of Chief Giles Taylor, Captain Paul Burden, Officer Paul Evans, and Officer Jessie Burden.
