Morgantown City Pool Set to Open Monday

After a month-long renovation period, the Morgantown City Pool is set to open this Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m.

Renovations began in early May to update the pool and other areas of the building. According to Morgantown City Pool Manager Andy Fuller, the pool was originally built in 1978 and was “time for an upgrade.”

Fuller said the city of Morgantown had money left in their budget to be spent by July 1st and they were lucky to be given the opportunity to go ahead and make the upgrades. Along with renovations to the pool were updated bathrooms and concession stands as well as many new features.

The new features will include a new 30-foot awning that will provide more shade for customers outside, as well as a porch area and new garage doors to allow easier access. The pool will now also include 50 new lawn chairs lined around the deck. Fuller said chairs were previously available for a small rental fee, but will now be free to all swimmers.

Fuller said the opening was originally set for June 1st, however as is the case with most things, delays had occurred. Tile work and other finishing touches were still being made at the time.

The pool is located at Charles Black City Park and will open on Monday at 10 a.m. Operating hours will remain the same Monday through Saturday 10-5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. Admission prices will also remain the same at $2 per child, $4 per adult and children three and under for free. Wednesdays will be half-price admission from 6-10 p.m. and a “Dive-In Movie Night” will be held once a month. Season passes and pool party rentals are also available.
