Morgantown Butler County Tourism

The Morgantown-Butler County Tourism Commission met on Thursday, March 28th at the Butler County Courthouse.  Members Roger Southerland, Diane Dyer, Dale Willis, Brenda Longhofer and Jim McDaniel were present.
The financial report showed a balance of $12,768.73 collected from local motels with $9,768.73 available to disperse.  Monthly deposits were December 2018- $738.53, January 2019- $341.35, and February 2019- $438.25.
The commission heard from six groups requesting funding for a variety of projects promoting Butler County.
Deanna Embry and Jessie Greathouse spoke on behalf of the Chamber Commerce requesting $3,000 for the 2019 Green River Catfish Festival. The festival dates are July 4-6th, with the fishing tournament the weekend before and the Road Race on June 15th.
According to Tommy Hines, the Green River Museum at Woodbury has seen growth in attendance, more historical artifacts have been donated and the facebook posts are attracting a lot of attention. He requested $3,000 for renovations to the  Superintendent's house. 
The Trail Town Task Force asked for $1,500 for the third annual Green River Ramble.  According to spokesman Don Lindsey the Ramble will be held on June 1, 2019, and will consist of a paddle event from Reedyville to Woodbury followed by a concert by Jericho Woods. 
Roger Givens of the Butler County Arts Guild requested $1,500 for the promotion of events.  Last year the guild hosted 22 projects bringing several people into Butler County. They also plan to expand their Sidewalk Chalk Festival.
Rochester Mayor Martha Roe represented the Rochester Ladies League which have completed several beautification projects in Rochester.  They are currently completing the bathrooms at the new ballpark, which host several visitors to the county.  They requested $1,000.
The last request came from the Butler County Antique Tractor and Small Engine Club.  Roger Tanner addressed the commission request $250 for advertising for the 13th Annual Tractor Show to be held August 2-3rd at the Charles T. Black City Park.  According to Tanner, last year's show had 140 entries from 4 states and 18 counties.

Trail Town $1,500
Rochester Ladies League $1,000
Tractor Show $250

Figures for 2018 are not yet available but Ky Dept of Tourism showed direct tourism spending for Butler County in 2017 at 3,858,940 dollars and total expenditures for the county at 6,066,254.
