Morgantown - Butler County Swim Team to host championship swim meet Saturday

The Morgantown-Butler County Swim Team will be hosting the South Western Swim Team Association Championship Swim Meet this Saturday, July 27 at the newly remodeled Morgantown City Pool.

The league is made up of 5 teams. The teams competing will be: Barren County YMCA Killer Whales, Morgantown-Butler County Barracudas, Scottsville Core Sea Dragons, Southland Sharks and the Portland Sting Rays.

The meet will be broken into a morning and afternoon session. The morning session will be all events for swimmers 10 years old or younger and will have 66 swimmers. The first session will start with 7 a.m. warm-ups and the meet will begin at 8:30 a.m. and finish around 11:15am.

The afternoon session will be all events for swimmers over the age of 10 and will have 88 swimmers. The afternoon session warm-ups begin at 11:30 a.m. and the meet will start at 1:00 p.m. and finish around 5 p.m. Awards will be handed out following the afternoon session.

The MBCST board said there has been a great deal of planning and prepping by the board and swim parents to make this day a fun event for the swimmers. The MBCST Board would like to thank Mayor Billy Phelps for allowing them the use of the Morgantown City Pool for the day. They would also like to thank the pool staff for the extra work they put into making the day successful, the city crew, their sponsors and all the parents who volunteered to help.

The MBCST said their swimmers have worked hard to prepare for this meet and would like to invite everyone out to cheer them on this Saturday.
