Members of local KFB women's group attend "boot camp" and conference

On March 8th, Kentucky hosted its first-ever women's boot camp at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green .

Two women were selected from Butler County Farm Bureau to attend. Sherri Kirby, Butler County Farm Bureau women's chair and Amanda Taylor, committee member, were both selected.

They completed an eight-hour course on public speaking and received helpful information on how to educate the community on things that impact the county and nation as it relates to agriculture. After finishing the course they were presented with a certificate of completion.

The annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Women's Conference was held in Bowling Green at the Sloan Convention Center on March 9-10. Representing Butler County were (left to right in photo above) Betty Farris, Amanda Taylor, Sherri Kirby, Rita Drake, Amanda Rice, Amelia Smithson  Also attending was the future of the women's committee -- Harmony Taylor and Gwen Smithson (pictured in front above). The group spent Thursday attending Chaney's Dairy farm and the WKU farm and finished with dinner at the Highlands Stables. Saturday was filled with many informative session and ended with a silent auction to benefit KFB scholarship programs.
