MEETING: Butler County Fiscal Court

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, August 11, at the courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

After corrections were made to the July 28 minutes, the court proceeded to old business.  They approved a bid from Williams Flooring, in the amount of $1,324.79, for flooring for both ferry houses.

New Business:

After returning from a closed session, the court gave Judge/Executive Tim Flener and Magistrate Dillon Bryant permission to interview for the road department.  They also permitted Judge Flener to hire an emergency ferry operator due to an employee's departure.

Magistrates approved increasing starting pay by $0.50 /hour for hourly positions.  According to Judge Flener, unchanged starting pay is leading to recruitment challenges.

The court approved the bridge application for fiscal year 25-26. Two of the four bridge replacements are in progress.  Bryant Ridge is scheduled for repair in the fall/spring.  The Rochester Bridge at Panther Creek is likely to be delayed until 2026.  Flint Springs and Dimple Road bridges are also scheduled for repairs.

The court approved a bid of $38,000 from Lawrence Concrete for Brooklyn-Grancer Road.

The court also approved a line of credit at Morgantown Bank & Trust for the ambulance service and agreed to purchase a Ford F550 from state surplus for $21,500.
