MEETING: Butler County Fiscal Court

Boy Scout Troop 208

Butler County Fiscal Court met at the courthouse on Monday, October 9. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the Boys Scouts Troop 208. All magistrates attended - Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill and Dillon Bryant.

Old Business:

Following previous hearings with no opposition, the court approved the removal of 1.25 miles of Toy Springs Road and 530 feet of Doc Parrish Road from the county maintenance system.

The court awarded - on a 3-2 vote - the Reeds' Ferry Ramp Project to Wedding Excavation of Maceo, KY, for $94,450.  Magistrates Allen Smith and Kevin Phelps voting against the motion. Smith and Phelps had motioned for the job to go to Green River Equipment Leasing, Inc. for $114,750, which failed on a 2-3 vote.  Magistrates Givens, Bryant, and Whittinghill voted no on that measure due to the price difference.

The court decided to leave the tug boats at the Butler County Road Department instead of putting them in the river. The repair on the Rochester Ferry is only taking about 12 hours.

New Business:

The court accepted a Resolution from the Rochester City Council transferring future financial obligations related to the repair and reinstallment of the Rochester Boat Ramp to the county. The county will reinstall the boat dock.

The court approved the Rochester VFD truck financing plan for $63,568. The payments will be made through the county, and the Rochester VFD will reimburse the county.

Magistrates approved the submission of eight illegal dumps to the state for approval: One each on County Road, Lee Property, Voting House Road, Oak Ridge, Region Reedyville, Waverly School, Hwy 70 E, and Chad Johnson Farm /1083.

The Court approved a bid from Parkway Tires for county road department tires. Parkway submitted the lowest proposal.
