MEETING: Butler County Fiscal Court

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, April 11, at the courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance.

Erin Phelps of the Butler County Conservation District presented the annual budget to the Court. Magistrates approved an appropriation of $35,000 for the Butler County Conservation District.

Colleen Phelps with Butler County Cancer Assistance came before the Court asking for $10,000 for a food truck. Phelps shared the organization's mission to serve the people of Butler County who have cancer. The Court took no action on the request.

Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson presented her first-quarter financials. She informed the Court that an individual had picked up a new leasing company in the county and had 1900 renewals last month.

"We had the busiest March we have ever had, bringing in over two million dollars," said Johnson.

The Clerk's office had a $3,154,499.04 first quarter.

Magistrates approved an expenditure of $2,699 for cards to be mailed to voters clarifying voter precincts.

The Court awarded illegal dump bids to the lowest bidder in each location:

Mark Hood Farms

Dockery Road $7,300

  • City Service #2 $25,250

 Haskel Lawrence

  • KY 79#2 $3,850
  • Possum Hollow Rd $8,250

 The county will have to match approximately $28,000.

  • Bills and transfers
  • Transfer $25,000 from General Fund to Jail Fund
  • Butler County Treasurer's Monthly Settlement
  • Butler County Fiscal Court Quarterly Financial Statement
  • Advertise for bids on Siren Project at Courthouse
  • Advertise for bids for Generators (VFDs', Courthouse, Rescue Squad)
  • Advertise for bids for Generators ( Road Dept., Health Dept., Communications Tower)
  • Sign contract for KY FEMA Hazard Mitigation Performance Grant
  • Sign Roadside Inmate Work Crews Contract FY 2023-2024
  • Accept First District Fire Protection Board Financial Statement for the 1st quarter
  • Accept 5th District Fire Department Financial Statement for the 3rd quarter
  • The appraisal fee of $1,200 to Appraisal Services of Western KY, LLC for the new Judical Center
