What made you decide to run for office? 

I began thinking about a potential run for office last summer when I found out Suzanne would not be running for re-election. I started researching more about the position and decided to take the state administered exam that is required before you can file for PVA. About half way through the exam is when I realized that this was something I could be good at and enjoy doing. After passing the test, I spent time discussing running for PVA with my family and friends and the support I received encouraged me to file. 

What are your main qualifications for this office? 

I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from WKU with a minor in Business Management. I have worked as a Financial Software Engineer for 21 years. I am the co-owner of Jaken Enterprises where we buy, sell and manage rental properties. I have also done some work outside of my job with property and surveying databases. I’ve converted and updated property and plat information between databases. I want to use my software development background to bring in new experience and systems into the PVA office. 

If elected, what changes/improvements would you hope to bring to the office? 

If elected, I want to focus on updating the computer platforms in the PVA office. I want to make the website more than just an informational site where you can download and print documents. I want it to be an interactive portal where documents can be submitted online and make it easier for people that may not be able to get into the office in person. I also want to update the software that is being used for assessments and mapping. I will focus on streamlining these systems to work together as efficiently and accurately as possible and use cloud based technologies to link the field assessments with the office systems in real time. 

In summary, why should voters cast their ballot for you?

My office will be professional and courteous and I can promise you that every assessment will be fair and accurate. I will treat your property as if it were my own and provide the best assessment for you and your property. If you don’t know me personally, I challenge you to find someone that does. I’m confident that you will find that I am a man of faith, I treat others with respect and when I commit to something I give it 110%. That’s what I intend to do if elected. I will be committed to this job and do everything that I can to serve you to the best of my ability.
