Meet the Candidate Chris Reneer Jailer

1. Name:  Chris Reneer

2. Age:  47 years

3. Office Seeking:  Jailer

4. Party Affiliation:  Republican

5. What made you decide to run for this office?

My career originally started in 2001 while working at the jail for Terry Fugate, our Jailer at the time.  I continued working and learning from Terry until 2010 when I began my career in law enforcement with the Morgantown City Police, later transitioning to the Butler County Sherriff’s office as deputy.  During the 21 years I have been in the jail and law enforcement field I have learned the daily requirements of running a jail as well as expanding on my skills in working with the inmate population.

6. What are your main qualifications for this office?

Before working full time for Jailer Fugate, I worked as a part time deputy for Sheriff Kenneth Morris from 2005-2007. Later I worked full time for Terry Fugate as deputy jailer for 9 years, then later in law enforcement for 12, has given me a combined 21 years’ experience in the field.

7. If elected, what changes/improvements would you hope to bring to the office?

Going back to the basics is my main goal if elected into office.  Years ago, the county jail used inmate labor to aid in the upkeep of the county’s cemeteries and roads. A walk through several of these cemeteries today will show you they are in dire need of the care and respect they deserve but no longer receive.  Our county roads are also in need of clean up from litter.  This will not only beautify the cemeteries and county roads, but will do so at no expense to the citizens of Butler County.

8. In summary, why should voters cast their ballot for you?

Several campaign signs read “experience matters” but I am proud to say that I truly do have the experience needed for this office.  Not only have I worked in the field for over 21 years, I am DOCJT certified (Department of Criminal Justice Training) and have over 360 in service training hours in various subject matters pertaining to the jail and inmate field.

My extensive training prepares me for this position as well as the following certifications earned while a deputy:  Certified K9 Handler, Certified ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement), and Sergeant of Patrol.

Please know that I try my best to attend as many meetings as I can but as others in our community, I am a working individual with only so many hours in the day.  Currently I am proudly employed as a supervisor at Real Alloys.  However, feel free to reach out to me personally if you would like to discuss my intent and/or ideas for the office of Butler County Jailer.

I appreciate and look forward to your vote on May 17th.
