“Amazing, simply amazing,” are the words that left elder, Ricky Murray speechless when he talks about throwing out the first pitch at The Bowling Green Hot Rods game on July 16^th. 

Ricky Murray, Darrell “Frankie” Taylor, and Emmitt Cox, elders at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, joined other elders, stakeholders, and families from Signature Healthcare’s Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, Signature Healthcare of Hart County Rehab and Wellness Center, Signature Healthcare of Monroe County Rehab and Wellness Center, and Signature Healthcare of Glasgow Rehab and Wellness Center for a day at the ballpark. 

The event came into discussion when staff learned about the interest of baseball among several elders; therefore, it was only natural in keeping with Signature’s Quality of Life mission to live life to the fullest extent possible, regardless of age or physical challenges, and providing activities that promote independence, recreation, and socialization alive. 

The day was filled with joy and excitement as the elders, stakeholders, and families joined together to cheer elder, Ricky Murray, on as he threw out the first pitch of the game. While on the field, Regenia Greenfield, RSM at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center assisted him to make the perfect pitch and he had the opportunity to meet the mascots and players.  It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Mr. Murray and an exciting day for all other attendees.
