Patricia McKinney, former employee of the Morgantown Prescription Center, was arrested today for her role in a prescription drug organized crime ring. Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force detectives discovered as the result of an investigation that started with one undercover drug purchase in Bowling Green during May that over 26,000 prescription pain pills were diverted from a Butler County pharmacy.
Following this investigation of six months the accused were indicted by the Warren County Grand Jury and over the past several days all but one has been arrested.
This investigation involved hundreds of man-hours by task force detectives and traced the source to the Morgantown Prescription Center where Patricia McKinney an employee, without the knowledge of her employer, stole the pills and sold them to Samantha Richardson for illegal street sales.
The pills included Dilaudid, Roxicodone, Opana and Methadone. The Morgantown Prescription Center was ultimately a victim in this crime as well as society. The street value is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The accused were all arrested and lodged in the Warren County Jail with the exception of Lopez-Lucero who was ordered to remain free by Judge Grise as he had posted a $1,000 bond on a previous charge so no arrest warrant was issued.  He was indicted for the charges above and is set to appear in Warren Circuit Court.
