Mayor Billy Phelps Signs Proclamation September is National Recovery Month

Kentucky Christian Recovery Staff and Mayor Phelps

The Mayor encourages all friends and family to recognize the signs of abuse and guide them into an appropriate program. Behavioral health is essential to one's overall wellness; preventing and overcoming substance abuse is vital to achieving a healthy physical and emotional lifestyle.

Donte Paul, Executive Director and Mayor Phelps

Kentucky Christian Recovery opened last June in the old, third district Elementary School building at 263 Huntsville Road.

The mission of Kentucky Christian Recovery is to heal those enslaved by the chains of addiction through the power of Jesus Christ by showing his love to all people served by offering Christ-centered, holistic treatment for men.

Chad Cardwell and Ben West are the owners of the Recovery Center. Donte Paul is the Executive Director; he has been involved in the substance abuse part of health care for six years. Typically there are twelve staff members present, and they are taking care of forty-one patients currently.

Licensed Counselors perform all therapy sessions.

Their goal is to change the patient's perspective of the events that culminated in their problem thru a Christian perspective and relearning social, life, and financial skills to function successfully.

Educational and vocational needs are also addressed, and goals are set to the individual's mental wellness. Patients who can't cook are helped by a patient who can cook, help others, and build self-esteem. Basic skills like cleaning, painting, or washing dishes teach a person that any learned task is essential.

Short-Term Residential Treatment is for twenty-eight days and includes ten hours of clinical treatment with thirty hours of recovery based activities per week.

Counselor Eric Velez

Intensive Outpatient Services are ninety days and include nine hours of Evidence-Based, Recovery Focused Individual/Group clinical counseling, and fifteen hours of internal and external recovery-based activities per week.

Sober living/Outpatient Services are ninety days and include Peer Support twice a week, Targeted Case Management once a week, job skills training, and group therapy sessions as needed.

Counselor Keshia Robbins

Everyone has a friend or family member who has received help in the past, so we know this can be a promising path; let's pray for the staff and patients for successful outcomes.
