Mason Johnson finishes 6th in USA High School Clay Target League National Championship

The 2023 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship occurred in Mason, MI, July 5th-9th, with 1,800 student-athletes participating in the individual competition. Overall more than 460 high schools from across the country were represented.

On Saturday, July 8th, 1,800 top high school athletes competed in the USAHSCTL National Individual Championship Qualifying round. Of those, just 400 made it to the Sunday afternoon final.

Mason Johnson, of Butler County High School, competed on Saturday, shooting a perfect round 100/100. Sunday consisted of another 100 shots. Mason again shot a perfect score of 100\100. A total of 19 kids shot perfect scores on Sunday.

The Sunday Individual final was exciting, with 19 athletes shooting perfect scores at the end of the regular competition. Those 19 went on to compete in a grueling shoot-off.

Mason lasted to the 6th round, finishing 6th place in the nation.

Mason was also 1 of 3 shooters who shot a perfect round on Saturday and Sunday.
