Mark Allen's Scouting Report: Butler vs. Warren Central

The Warren Central Dragons, a new opponent for the Bears, have not been on the schedule since the early 1970s. In recent times Warren Central has fallen on hard times in football but in the 1980s and 1990s Warren Central Dragon football was as good

as anyone in the state at any classification level.

Many may not recall but Greenwood HS and South Warren HS were both spinoffs of Warren Central HS.  The openings of both those high schools still today have had lasting effects on Warren Central Dragon football.

The Dragons come into tonight’s game at (0-2) on season with losses to Logan Co. and Franklin Simpson.  But, this is as good an 0-2 team you’ll see with speed and talent at the skill positions.

Head Coach Mark Nelson is a veteran coach who began his high school coaching career at Butler Co. HS in the 1985 season as an assistant coach. Coach Nelson then moved on to coach at Portland, Tn. HS, Westmoreland Tn. HS, Greenwood HS, and then was the

first head football coach at South Warren HS. He retired, then came out of retirement to take the Warren Central HS job.

The Bears travel to Warren Central HS tonight for a 7 p.m. kickoff in week #3.  The game will be aired live on WLBQ.
