Majority of Morgantown Restaurants not Ready for Inside Dining

After Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave the green light for restaurants to reopen, I was at first surprised when most restaurants in Morgantown chose not to open for inside dining. But, but after several owners and managers told me the same reasons, it is easy to understand.

Inside Dining requirements include limiting occupancy to 33% capacity, 6-feet distancing, limiting movement while inside, servers wear masks and gloves, disposable paper menus, having hand sanitizer available, plastic silverware and many more.

Several owners and managers told me if a family comes in and sits down and then their friends come in and sit down with them, we are not the police, we are not going to tell them to move.

They also consider the possibility of someone comes coming inside to eat and finding out the next day they have the virus, the restaurant having to close completely for a time. For most it's not worth the risk.

Most restaurants will reevaluate in a month or two.
