Magistrates support 2-1-1 service with donation; minutes corrected from previous meeting

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, July 26, at the courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

After researching items 13 and 19 regarding the reimbursement of travel for an elected official, the minutes for June 28, 2021, were corrected and approved.  Magistrates also approved the minutes from the July 12 meeting.

Ellie Harbaugh from United Way came before the court to share 2-1-1 information and to request a donation. Butler County had a total of 86 contacts for services. Most calls were about utilities and rent payment assistance. The court has supported the 2-1-1 for the last five years and approved a $2,000 donation this year.

Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward presented his 2020 property tax settlement pending tax audit, 2020 mineral tax, and 2020 franchise tax.

Magistrates also discussed property tax rates. A public hearing is set for August 18 at 2:00 pm at the judge's office. The current tax rate is 7.9.

Magistrate Timmy Givens asked Judge-Executive Tim Flener about the jointly -owned property with the city of Morgantown. Judge Flener said he would check with Mayor Billy Phelps.

Magistrate David Whittinghill asked for Walnut Grove Road to be added to the county maintenance system. He also asked about the festival at the Leonard Oak Boat Ramp.  A tentative date of October 9 was set.

--Big Reedy Watershed Conservancy District Financial Report

--Fourth District VFD report

--Fifth District VFD report

--First reading of Ordinance #2021-07-26 Fees for civil and criminal cases

--Second reading and adoption of ordinance #2021-04-26 Eric Young Road into county maintenance

--Agreement between Butler County Fiscal Court and the Transportation Cabinet- Rochester Ferry River Gauge and Road list for Flex Program
