Magistrates revisit recycling center; motion rescinded to rename Rochester Paddlewheel

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, August 10th, at the Butler County Courthouse. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

In revisiting operations at the Butler County Recycling Center, magistrates voted 4-1, with Third District Magistrate Timmy Givens in opposition, to let Corey Raymer run the facility as he sees fit.  However, Raymer must spend as least two days per week focused on solid waste in the county, according to the measure.

Fourth District Magistrate David Whittinghill rescended his motion during the previous meeting to name the Rochester Paddlewheel "Miss Susan" in honor of Susan Johnson. The motion passed 5-0. Timmy Givens suggested that Whittinghill "keep your butt" out of Third District business.

Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson asked the Court to authorize checks to Board of Assessment Appeals of $100 each: A J Woosley, Donna Wilson, Easton Weathers, and Sherry Johnson.

The Court approved a road list ( Al Embry Road, Threlkel Road, and Jake Pharris Road) to submit to Transportation Department for Flex Funds FY21 available funding of $292,786.

The Court approved a 16 X20 pavilion and a boat dock for Rochester not to exceed $20,000.

The Court set the Tax rates for FY 2020. However, magistrates resended the motion during a called Meeting on Tuesday, August 18th.

The Court approved the following by a 5-0 vote:

-Bills and transfers

-Transfer $25,000 from General Fund to Jail Fund

-Litter Abatement checks to BCMS Girls Basketball-$461.90, and Boys Scout Troop 208 $500

-Treasurer's Settlement July 2020

-First Reading of Budget Amendment Ordinance #2020-TR-001

-Allocation for Sheriff Department revenue funding

-Check for $920.02 to Kathleen Flynn for retirement withheld in error

-Accepted a $2,500 bid from Kentucky Archaeological Survey to conduct a survey at the Woodbury Park ( during the called meeting on Tuesday, August 18th)
