Magistrates move through short agenda at called meeting

The Butler County Fiscal Court held a called meeting on Thursday, November 14 at the Butler County Courthouse.  All county magistrates were in attendance.
Larry Blacklock , of Green River Electrical Inspection Service, LLC, informed the court of changes in state regulations concerning electrical inspections.
“A permit will have to be issued for each inspection, we can do that or the county can,” said Blacklock. According to Blacklock the permit will not add additional cost to the consumer.  
Butler County is a closed county, meaning the county has a contracted electrical inspector. Green River Electrical Inspection Services has been under contract with the county for several years.  The court voted to allow Green River Electrical Inspection Service, LLC to issue the permits.

Butler County Sheriff's Deputy Heath West presented the third quarter Sheriff’s Report.  According to West the only significant change was an increase of $2,000 in the Carry Conceal fees.  The court approved the report.
Butler County Jailer Terry Fugate addressed the court concerning the need for a new range hood for the jail. 
“The range hood does not meet safety standards according to the inspector, it’s outdated,” said Fugate.  The court approved the installation of a new range hood at the cost of $3,915.
Third District Magistrate Chad Tyree shared a list of possible projects for the court to consider. 
“At the last meeting I asked the court to think of some projects we could team together to help the county,” said Tyree.  Suggestions from Tyree included work force development activities, a possible Job Fair, compiling of ordnances, and website improvement.   Fifth District Magistrate Keith Daugherty suggested a long range ( 5, 10 years)  plan of action for county roads. 
Fourth District Magistrate David Whittinghill and Daugherty praised County Road foreman Timmy West for the recent trimming along the county road right -of -ways improving vision, safety, and appearance. 
The court approved the annual treasurer’s settlement ending June 30, 2013, bills and transfers, monthly treasurer’s report, and the transfer of $25,000 from the general fund to the jail fund.
Litter abatement payments were approved to the following: BCHS Baseball Booster $623, Andrea’s Mission for Men $600, Reedyville RD $612, Community House of Prayer $700, Oak Ridge Church Youth $670, Cool Springs Church Youth $600.
The Fiscal Court and County Attorney Richard Deye went into closed session to discuss litigation. No action was taken by the court.
