Magistrates discuss road projects, solid waste and approve bids

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, March 12 with all magistrates -  Stevie Givens, Johnny Tuck, Chad Tyree, David Whittinghill, and Bobby Moore - in attendance.
Joe Plunk with the Kentucky Department of Transportation presented the 2018-2019 Fiscal Year Rural Secondary Road Funding Project. Butler County has $1,408,913.00 total funds available.  $473,800 will be used to maintain 139.3 miles of rural secondary roads at the cost of $3,401.29 per mile. $32,000 will be spent to resurface 0.626 miles of KY 369 - Russellville St. Main St. and Ferry St. in Rochester from KY 70 to Green River Road. Drainage structure repairs on KY 1038, Richelieu Road and KY 269, and Reeds' Ferry Road will cost $131,567.  The bulk of the money ($590,000) will be used to resurface 8.346 miles of KY 403, Logansport Road from KY 70 to the end of state maintenance.  The remainder of the funds will be placed in the Flex Funds account.

Several changes to the Solid Waste Program were approved by the magistrates, including   the first reading of an amendment to the Solid Waste Ordinance, the naming of Corey Raymer as the enforcement officer on all solid waste ordinances, and the approval of Doug Smith's bid of $6,200 for the bathroom plumbing at the recycling center.  All were approved on a 5-0 vote. 

In other business, Linda McKinney's 100-hour restriction as a part-time worker at the Recycling Center was removed by a 4-0 vote, David Whittinghill did not vote since he is related to McKinney.
A hearing was held prior to the fiscal court meeting but no decision was made by the court concerning the request to remove Old Baptist Church Road from the county maintenance.


The court approved the following by a 5-0 vote:
-Bills and transfers
-Monthly treasurer's report
-Transfer $25,000 from General Fund to Jail Fund
-First reading of an amendment to the fire dues ordinance
-Purchase of two dryers ($212 each) for the Butler County Jail
-Deweese Construction's bid of $14,900 was accepted for the removal of three illegal open dumps in the county
-Acceptance of February E911 dispatch report
