Magistrates approve 2nd Amendment Sanctuary resolution and several other items at January meeting

Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on Monday, January 13, 2020. All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Timmy Givens, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

Due to the large crowd and limited space, due to court still session, Judge-Executive Tim Flener suggested the Second Amendment resolution be moved to the top of the agenda. The court approved a resolution declaring Butler County, a Second Amendment Sanctuary. Butler County resident Jason Elms thanked the court for their support of the Second Amendment.

The court gave Judge Tim Flener the authority to sign several items pertaining to county business:

  • Highway Safety Grant
  • Rescue Squad Order of Affiliation
  • Resolution for Federal Financial Assistance and FEMA for all matters to Federal Disaster
  • Federal Emergency Agency's Hazard Mitigation Grant Commonwealth of Kentucky contract foe Butler County Energy Contract $68,350
  • Resolution for White Squirrel Weather 13% local match $845 and the WeatherSTEM Annual Fee of $500 per year to WKU

In other business the court approved the following:

  • Accept Brian L. Phelps resignation
  • E-911 to make Ashley Stinnett a full-time employee beginning February 3, 2020
  • Purchase and payment of KACO Safety Grant items: Jail Surveillance equipment from R & R Electronics $5,085 and Sheriff bumpers from Truckers Lighthouse $2,117.51
  • Payment of Transient Room Tax to Butler County Tourism Commission $147.48
  • Second reading and adoption of Budget amendment ordinance #3 $213,487.84
  • Fourth District Fire Department 4th quarter financials
  • First District Fire Department 4th quarter financials
  • Monthly treasurer's report
  • Quarterly financial statements
  • Bills and transfers
