Butler County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on Monday, September 26 at the Butler County Courthouse.
Bruce White, Director of Boys and Girls Club of Butler County, addressed the court asking for $12,500 for the club.  Former club director Stan England and David Eakles also encouraged the magistrates to approve the donation to the club.  Both men shared their experience growing up in a Boys and Girls Club. Third District Magistrate Chad Tyree made the motion to approve the $12,500 allocation to the club; Johnny Tuck, Second District Magistrate, seconded the motion.  Due to multiple responses when asked for a vote, Judge-Executive David Fields requested a roll call vote.  The motion was approved by a 4-1 vote with Stevie Givens, First District Magistrate, being the lone no vote.
Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson presented the 2016 Tax Rates and asked for a motion to put the rates on the tax bills.  The motion was approved.

On the recommendation of the Butler County Ambulance Board, the court approved the appointment of O'Neil Basham and Patrick Daugherty to the board. Basham and Daugherty join Bill Sweatt, Don Sullivan, and Deborah Rose Worley on the board.

Butler County Road Supervisor Jonathan Deweese addressed the court concerning the recent work done by the road department employees.

"I can't say enough about their hard work and effort," said Deweese.  "Since July 18th, we have been chipping and sealing roads in all five districts in the county.  We have used 93,019 gallons of oil and approximately 2,700 ton of #9 rock and close to 950 ton of cold mix. In that time we have continued to mow and replace tile."

The court approved the possible purchase of a truck ($35,000) and mowing tractor ($50,000) from the state surplus sale. Deweese also asked the court to declare of a list of items as surplus. Judge Fields stated that they planned to hold an auction to disperses with the surplus.   Bruce White, the owner of White Real Estate and Auction, offered to conduct the auction at no cost to the county.
