Maggie Childers: Singer, Song Writer, and Musician

Six degrees of separation is the theory that we are all connected via six or fewer social connections.  Hometown connections is how this young artist was discovered.  This theory turned out to be proven for Maggie Childers.  Her mother’s close friend from high school, Ben Travis, is currently a music producer in Nashville. When Maggie’s mother posted a video of her daughter singing on Facebook, he took notice and reached out to her… from there Maggie’s musical career has already begun at the young age of fifteen.

When asked how long she had been singing, her softspoken voice replied, “all my life,”. Don’t let her soft voice fool you though, this girl has a loud voice when expressing her thoughts vocally within the songs she has written herself.  During the interview we discussed her writing process and she said her first song was written over a span of a couple weeks.  She first wrote all of her thoughts down on paper and kept reorganizing those lyrics with her instrumental writing as well until her song was complete.  The song, Once Upon a Time, can be currently streamed on iTunes music as well as Amazon Music.

Lydia Jenkins of Music with Murphy began teaching her how to play guitar in January of 2018, and now in addition to her singing and songwriting she accompanies herself on guitar.  Ms. Jenkins, her parents, and extended family have been very supportive of her dreams, and she is very thankful for the opportunity she has been given.  The multitalented Miss Childress can be seen performing soon at the Battle of the Bands being hosted by Murphy’s Music on March 26, 2022.  Maggie is the daughter of Jaman and Andrea Childers and a current student at Butler County High School.
