Logan too much for Bears in season opener

The Logan County Cougars (Class 4A) took control of the game early on Friday night and proved to be too much for the visiting Bears, who fell 57-0 in the season opener.  Butler trailed 44-0 at the half and a KHSAA-mandated running clock (36-point margin) was put in place during the second quarter.

Turnovers plagued Butler County (Class 2A) throughout the game as the Bears coughed up four costly fumbles.  Offensively, Butler County wasn't able to generate any positive yardage as Logan's defense kept pressure on Butler quarterbacks Alex Rich and Bryar Beasley.

Rich, who started the game at quarterback, also broke a bone in his right hand (throwing hand) and is expected to be sidelined from that position for several weeks.
