Local churches support students with annual block party
Main Street in Morgantown was full last weekend as 19 churches of the Gasper River Association of Baptists held the 2nd Annual Block Party, which is an outreach effort to support local students as the new school year approaches.
The following churches took part in the event: Chapel Union, Walnut Grove, New Midway, New Harmony, Barnetts Lick, Sandy Creek, Woodbury, Quality, Rock Springs, Union, Bethel, Rochester, Mt. Vernon, Richland, Mt. Olivet, New Liberty, Monticello, First Baptist, and Aberdeen
Several area preachers/speakers - Daniel Cardwell, Graham West, Bill Downey, Randy Burns, Cam Cardwell, John Holland, Paul Parks, and Brian - almost delivered brief messages to those in attendance.
Along with preaching, several church worship teams lead worship throughout the event.
Students were able to stop at each church’s booth and receive either school supplies, snacks, or play games.
Students could also register for gift card and another prizes.
