Local Businesses Support Toys for Tots

The Covid-19 pandemic has far-reaching effects in communities across America and ours is no exception. Thankfully, there are groups and organizations that are working harder than ever to assist families who struggle. One group locally doing this is the Butler County Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC).

Each year the group organizes a toy drive for Toys for Tots, a charity that provides Christmas gifts to children in need. This year, the need is even greater as many folks have been left out of work or forced to work less due to effects of the pandemic. Unfortunately, due to less gatherings and financial hardships, churches and clubs were not able to donate like they usually would. Thankfully, two local businesses have stepped in to help fill the gap.

Melissa Glass, with the FRYSC, explains, “Delta Faucet always facilitates a big toy drive from their employees.  This year they chose not to have the toy drive because of safety concerns due to Covid.  Instead, they surprised us by donating $2500.00 to Toys for Tots. We also received a $1500.00 grant from Beaver Dam Walmart, which combined with the donation from Delta, all but saved Christmas this year.”

Spreading even more Christmas cheer, the FRYSC will hold a special event on this Thursday, December 17. An Evening with Santa and Friends will be a drive through event featuring Santa and his friends spreading holiday cheer. The event will be held at Morgantown Elementary School from 4-7 pm.
