Little Hats Big Hearts Inspire Crafters

The Butler County Knitters and Crocheters have donated approximately 125 little red hats to the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Kenna Martin, Butler County Library director, brought the Little Hats Big Hearts program to the group and other local crafters just after Christmas.

The American Heart Assn. celebrates American Heart Month by knitting or crocheting red hats for all babies born in participating hospitals in February. This inspiring project is raising awareness across the country of heart disease and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defects in the country.

Participants were Kenna Martin, Christine Bratcher, Danielle Bratcher, Addie Mae Childers, Alice Cox, Nancy Burden, Kathy Vernon, Maurleen Jasmine, Karen Childress, Beverly Hayes, Brenda Jenkins, Sibyl Shelton, Elaine Daugherty, Liz Washer, Hollie Chambers, Hollie Smith, Con Byrum, Takeda Parnell, Chasity Wells, Connie J. Embry, and Becky West.

Without the help of all the crafters and people who donate yarn the group would not be able to do all the wonderful work that they do.
