Letter to Editor: Veterans Parade

I am appalled at the small turnout for The Veterans Parade. It shows me “I don’t care about veterans”. But just wait for The Christmas Parade the first of December. The town will be so full that a person can’t walk through town. Of course, all the free candy, stuffed animals, and other free stuff that will be handed out. People of Butler Co. should realize and give thanks to our veterans that we have the freedom to have a Christmas parade. The veterans gave their time, themselves, and gave all-the upmost- their life in defense and protection of this country the United States, our state and county. I challenge each citizen of this county to visit the veterans memorable on our court house lawn and read the names of those veterans who gave their lives in defense of our country and the free world. Though many times when people see me, I’m giving thanks for serving. We veteran are all brothers and sisters no matter what branch of military we served. We are a proud bunch. So, why can’t our community be as proud and give us respect.

To the band director of our school, why did we have only drum corps march in The Veterans Parade? I’m sure that, come time for the Christmas Parade all members will be involved. As a former BCHS band member under Charlie Black we would have lead The Veterans Parade in full comp strutting our stuff. (no shame) I close with what a veteran is, a veteran is a person who signed a contract with the government and gives them a blank check to him or her to do with whatever they please
