Letter to the Editor: Operation Christmas Shoebox

Dear Editor,
Thank You Butler Countians! Our County sent 1,526 shoe-boxes this November to Franklin Graham Samaritans Purse. This is the most we have ever sent! This exceeded last years collection by 356 shoe boxes. Since beginning this ministry in 1999 (90 shoe boxes collected), Butler Countians have packed 11,292 boxes. Sandy Creek Baptist Church once again out did everyone with supplying 339 filled boxes. Again we have shown compassion for hurting children in war torn countries and the poorest nations by sending these shoe boxes. This may be the first gift or the only Christmas Gift a child may receive. We may never know what these boxes might mean, going into a village where missionaries are not allowed. Christian Literature in their language will be inserted at when destination is determined. When the boxes are delivered to a village, the children can hardly wait for them to be given out. We ARE a part of that excitement!

Special thanks goes to Anne Givens and Gasper River Building for becoming 1st time collection point. Also Thanks to Debbie and Kenneth Young as full time volunteers to promote this wonderful mission. Thanks to the several hundred volunteers who worked on this project throughout the year in our county. Great Job!

Blessings
Peggy Drake
