Letter to the Editor: Clark Hammers - A Question For "NO" Voters

My question for all citizens who are passionately trying to convince the voters of Butler County that voting "NO" is the morally correct thing to do is, "Are you against alcohol sales everywhere or just in Butler County?"  I think it's important to understand the difference.  If your opposition is based on a religious belief (as many have stated), then I can support your opposition. I may not agree with your conviction but for reasons of religious freedom (see the U.S. Constitution), I don't have to in order to support you.  I also support the Amish folks who live in Butler County. I don't agree with their conviction of no cars, no electricity, no phones, no fancy adornments for women (make-up or jewelry), no doctors, no school past eighth grade, no government, no military service, and shunning family members not in church. I do admire how devoted they are to their conviction.  If you are against all alcohol sales, I assume you are against any business that would legally sell alcohol.  I hope your conviction would be strong enough to not support that business, which would mean no Kroger, no Wal-Mart, no Outback, no Applebees, no Pizza Hut, no gas station, no place that sells alcohol anywhere...period. Not doing so would seem to be preaching what you don't practice.

A man named Yoder once told me that his church believed "the good book" taught us that it was more important to "live" our faith than talk about it. We did a lot of business together. He practiced what others only preached.  For those who are OK with alcohol sales in neighboring counties just not here, I assume your reasons are economical or political . If so, please join in the discussion so that all viewpoints can be heard equally.
