Letter to Editor

Dear Editor and Butler County:

With a crowded Primary giving way to a race between only two, the judge’s race and who Mark Mudd is has been a subject of much conversation.

Interested in the next judge’s impact upon our community, James and I compared the two candidates’ backgrounds and their visions for the future.  We were impressed with Mark’s qualifications and reputation for being a good man, but wanted to meet him and judge for ourselves.

Months ago, the Mudds came to our house on a campaign stop, but first asked how I was doing (My name had been on their prayer list.).  I was very sick then, but I remember Mark and Becky kneeling by my side in prayer for me and my family--the first of several such prayers.

Many conversations later, I am confident that Mark will use his education, experience in government and private work, and his many connections across the state to “do the right thing” for Butler County.  James and I have family members who started their own businesses here in Morgantown and are working hard to raise our grandchildren here. We’re excited about Mark’s ideas for encouraging small businesses and young families.

We hear that party is an issue for some. We routinely vote in nonpartisan races for mayor and city council. The party is simply not an issue for us in this election.  We want to hire the best man for the job of Butler County Judge-Executive.  That man is Mark Mudd!
