Letter to the Editor

Butler County Voters:

Many know that my dad was Volley Doris Keown.  When Dad retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation, he was County Supervisor for Butler County.  Dad took his job seriously and was proud of the job his crew did.  Dad would speak often of Butler County road projects.  Before Dad retired, the widening of 231 in Morgantown was in the planning stages, and he had to work with engineers out of District 3, Bowling Green.  One of those engineers was a young man by the name of Mark Mudd.  If you knew Volley Doris, you knew he expected every man to know his job.  As Dad talked about the different engineers, he’d say, “That Mudd boy knows what he’s doin’!”

Dad worked with Mark on several projects in Butler County.  I’m confident that if he were still with us today, Dad would say, “Mark Mudd is the best and most qualified candidate for Butler County Judge-Executive.”  I am asking each voter that knew Volley Doris Keown to please look at both candidates closely, choose wisely, and as Dad would say, “Go vote for that Mudd boy!  He’s the best man for the job!”

Just as Dad made contacts across the state while working for Kentucky DOT, Mark Mudd has made many more, by far!  You may say that contacts don’t matter, that job experience doesn’t matter.  You may even say that a wall full of diplomas doesn’t matter.  But in state/county government, THERE ARE WHAT MATTER!  The next Butler County Judge-Executive has to know how to put Butler County on the table in Frankfort.  As I know my dad would say, “Vote for Butler County, Vote for Mark Mudd!”  I, too, ask you to vote for the best candidate for Butler County, MARK MUDD!

Doris Ann Keown Howard
