Lady Bears top Whitesville Trinity 53-46; Bears cruise 85-28

WHITESVILLE — Butler County topped Whitesville Trinity 53-46 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 25.After posting the win, Butler County improved to 10-8 overall and opened 1-0 in the 12th District.

 

Whitesville Trinity dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-2 in the 12th District after absorbing the loss.  

Carrying a lead out of each quarter, visiting Butler County outscored Whitesville Trinity 16-12 in the opening period.

Butler County led 31-22 at halftime of the 12th District girls' basketball game. 

Remaining out in front following the break, Butler County led 39-31 at the end of the third quarter. 

Ava Wilson scored 16 points to lead Butler County to the 12th District win. 

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Taylor Leach netted 11 points. 

Butler County received scoring from nine different players. The additional scorers for Butler County were Parker Willoughby (five points), Karrington Hunt (five points), Bailey Moore (five points), Maddie Jones (four points), Ann Marie Skaggs (three points), Addison Miller (two points) and Isabella Easley (two points).

In a quick turnaround, Butler County is scheduled to host Whitesville Trinity for another 12th District girls' basketball game at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26.

Bears roll past Raiders 85-28


WHITESVILLE — Butler County rolled past Whitesville Trinity 85-28 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 25.

With the win, Butler County improved to 9-6 overall and opened 1-0 in the 12th District. 

Whitesville Trinnity dropped to 1-15 overall and 0-2 in the 12th District after suffering the loss. 

The Bears set the tone early, outscoring the Raiders 26-10 in the opening quarter.

Butler County led 52-19 at halftime and extended its lead after the intermission period.

The Bears led 75-22 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Ty Price poured in a game-high 38 points to lead Butler County to the 12th District win. Price paced a group of four Butler County scorers in double figures. 

Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Lawson Rice scored 17 points, Justin Castlen netted 12 points and Trever Deweese posted 11 points.

Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Curtis Murphy added five points and Case Hooten contributed two points. 

 

Butler County is slated to host Whitesville Trinity for another 12th District boys' basketball game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26.
