Lady Bears drop home opener to Russellville
 
MORGANTOWN - Butler County dropped its home opener as visiting Russellville held on to win 3-1 in a girls' high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 17.
With the loss, Butler County slipped to 0-4.
Russellville evened its record to 2-2 with the win.
Jasmine Kennedy netted two goals to lead Russellville to the victory. Accompanying Kennedy in the Russellville scoring column, Emily Stapleton added one goal.
Contributing offensively for Russellville, Anastasia Dowlen provided one assist. 
Defensively for Russellville, goalkeeper Aliyah Kennedy recorded four saves while allowing only one goal.
Butler County was limited offensively throughout the girls' high school soccer match.
Freshman midfielder Yesenia Diaz scored Butler County's only goal in the loss.
Defensively for Butler County, freshman goalkeeper Brylee McClellan recorded eight saves while allowing three goals. 
Butler County is scheduled to visit Franklin-Simpson on Monday, Sept. 21. 

Lady Bears Soccer suffer shutout loss to Meade County
BRANDENBURG - Visiting Butler County was held scoreless for the first time in the 2020 girls' high school soccer season as Meade County pulled away to win 10-0 on Monday, Sept. 14.
With the loss, Butler County dropped to 0-3.
Meade County evened its record to 1-1- with the win. 
Cyia Robertson scored four goals and dealt out two assists to lead Meade County to the victory.
Six players accounted for all of Meade County's scoring.
Following Robertson, Cheyenne Stafford netted two goals and distributed one assist.
The additional contributors for Meade County were Grace Mattingly (one goal), Ally Hearn (one goal, one assist), Embry Keenan (one goal) and Mattie Clanton (one goal, one assist). 
Defensively for Butler County, goalkeeper Yesenia Diaz recorded eight saves. 
Butler County and Meade County aren't scheduled to meet again during the 2020 girls' high school soccer season. 
 
Lady Bears drop games to McLean County, Apollo 

MORGANTOWN - Butler County opened the 2020 girls' high school soccer season with back-to-back losses to McLean County and Apollo.
McLean County 10, Butler County 3: Host McLean County pulled away to beat Butler County 10-3 in a girls' high school soccer season opener on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Brilee Owens netted four goals to lead McLean County to the victory. Along with Owens, Clarissa Markwell (two goals), Jalee Pinkston (two goals, one assist), Abigail Humphrey (one goal, two assists), Kyndal Daugherty (one goal, one assist) and Maddie McKittrick (two assists) chipped in offensively for the Lady Cougars. 
Defensively for McLean County, goalkeeper Jayden Howard recorded five saves while allowing three goals. 
Yesenia Diaz netted two goals to lead the Lady Bears. Accompanying Diaz in the Butler County scoring column, Mari Perez delivered one goal.
Defensively for Butler County, goalkeeper Brylee McClellan recorded 13 saves.

Apollo 12, Butler County 2
Butler County was limited for the second straight outing as host Apollo pulled away to win 12-2 in a girls' high school soccer game on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Following the loss, Butler County stumbled to 0-2.
Apollo evened its record to 1-1 with the win.
Alyssa Lawrence (three goals, three assists) and Caitlyn Blandford (three goals, two assists) combined to lead Apollo to the victory.
Additional offensive contributors for Apollo were Ella Hayden (two goals, two assists), Kailee Quisenberry (one goal), Madolyn Decker (one goal), Emilee McFadden (one goal), Kaylee Hall (one goal), Alana Rone (two assists), Bway Paw (one assist) and Jolie Foster (one assist). 
Goalkeeper JoHannah Hutchinson paced Apollo defensively, recording five saves while allowing only two goals. 
Yesenia Diaz scored both of Butler County's goals in the loss.
