Lady Bears ranked 5th, Bears 10th in preseason Third Region poll

Butler County is ranked fifth in The Cats' Pause 2021-22 Kentucky Basketball Yearbook Preseason 3rd Region Girls' Basketball Rankings.

The Lady Bears are ranked ahead of Ohio County, Owensboro, Daviess County, Whitesville Trinity and Hancock County.

Butler County is listed behind Apollo, Meade County, Breckinridge County and top-ranked Owensboro Catholic.

Apollo is the reigning 3rd Region girls' basketball champion.

In addition to Owensboro Catholic, preseason top-ranked teams from throughout the state include McCracken County (1st Region), Henderson County (2nd Region), Bowling Green (4th Region), Bardstown (5th Region), Bullitt East (6th Region), Sacred Heart (7th Region), Anderson County (8th Region), Notre Dame (9th Region), George Rogers Clark (10th Region), Franklin County (11th Region), Southwestern (12th Region), South Laurel (13th Region), Knott County Central (14th Region), Pikeville (15th Region) and Russell (16th Region).

Butler County exited the 2020-21 girls' high school basketball season 9-7. The Lady Bears finished as the 12th District runner-up behind Grayson County and made an appearance in the 3rd Region Girls' Basketball Tournament during the 2020-21 hoops season.

Butler County exited the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season 5-10. The Bears finished as the 12th District runner-up behind Grayson County and made an appearance in the 3rd Region Boys' Basketball Tournament during the 2020-21 season.
