Lady Bears level Whitesville Trinity 59-29

MORGANTOWN — Butler County pulled away to beat Whitesville Trinity 59-29 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 26.

After registering the win, Butler County improved to 11-8 overall and 2-1 in the 12th District.

Whitesville Trinity dropped to 1-14 overall and 0-3 in the 12th District after suffering the loss.

Butler County set the tone early, outscoring Whitesville Trinity 15-7 in the opening quarter.

The Lady Bears led 30-11 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

Butler County led 47-22 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Ava Wilson scored 16 points to lead Butler County to the win.

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs netted 10 points.

Butler County received scoring from 10 different players. The additional scorers for Butler County were Parker Willoughby (eight points), Karrington Hunt (seven points), Carley Cardwell (five points), Taylor Leach (four points), Bailey Moore (four points), Addison Miller (two points), Maddie Jones (two points) and Jenna Brooks (one point). 

Butler County is scheduled to host Edmonson County for another 12th District girls' basketball game at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29.
