Lady Bears honors Seniors

The Butler County Lady Bears Softball Team honored their three seniors before Saturday's game.

Addison Miller is Megan and Jesse Miller's daughter. Her favorite memory is her junior season at Hancock County and winning district her first three years. All the full moons they have experienced are another life-lasting memory for Addy.

 She wants to remind her teammates to enjoy every moment because it will be over before you know it.

 Addison is majoring in accounting and business administration at Murray State University this fall.

  

Madison Clark is the daughter of Charlotte Clark and the late Mark Clark. She is escorted by her mom and grandfather, Billy White.

Her favorite memories are hitting two home runs against Edmonson County on her dad's birthday, getting a grand slam after her mother was diagnosed with cancer, and winning three district titles.

Madison advices her teammates to remember the victories over failures, so dont sulk on the mistakes you make now. Focus on achieving your goals and the hard work to accomplish them.

 Madison plans to major in nursing while continuing to play softball at Midway University.

 

 

 Mia Thomas is the daughter of Kevi and Jonathan Lewis. Her favorite memory is hitting two home runs in the same game this year (Hickman) and last year ( Breck).

Mia wants her teammates to breathe and enjoy their time with these amazing girls. 

 She intends to continue to play softball and major in nursing at Berea College. 

 

Butler County defeats Edmonson County for district win 

BROWNSVILLE — Returning to the win column after back-to-back losses, Butler County defeated Edmonson County 12-7 in a 12th District softball game on Monday, May 13. 

Butler County improved to 8-18 overall and 2-4 in the 12th District after posting the win. 

Miley Franzell pitched the first six innings for Butler County and earned the win in the circle. Franzell recorded two strikeouts. 

Following Franzell, Mia Thomas pitched in relief for the Bears. Thomas struck out one Edmonson County batter in one inning. 

Butler County scored 12 runs on 15 hits. Parker Willoughby helped to lead Butler County at the plate, finishing four-for-five with a double, a home run and four RBIs. 

In addition to Willoughby, Butler County's offensive attack included Franzell (one hit), Thomas (two hits), Madison Clark (three hits, five RBIs), Karrington Hunt (three hits), Carley Cardwell (one hit, one RBI), Madison Jones (one hit) and Jenna Tomes (one RBI). 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Ohio County for a regular season finale on Thursday, May 16. First pitch for the Butler County-Ohio County softball game is set for 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Butler County Lady Bears lost to the Owensboro Red Devils with a score of 3-12. The Red Devils scored first in the opening inning when Lauren Hughes hit into a double play, allowing one run. However, the Lady Bears quickly took the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to a double by Madison Clark. Owensboro then surged ahead in the top of the second inning with a home run, scoring two runs. They allowed nine hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, with no strikeouts or walks.

Miley Franzell pitched four innings in relief for Butler County, giving up five hits and five runs (three earned) while striking out one and walking four. Mia Thomas took the loss for Butler County, pitching three innings and surrendering seven runs on six hits, with no strikeouts and seven walks.

Madison Clark led Butler County with two RBIs and went 2-for-4 on the day. Parker Willoughby set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Lady Bears with three hits in four at-bats. Addison Miller collected two hits in three at-bats. Butler County also turned one double play during the game. Clark led Butler County with two RBIs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day.
