Lady Bears go 2-2 in recent stretch

The Butler County Lady Bears have nearly clawed their way back to the .500 mark with home wins over Whitesville Trinity 59-46 on January 22 and Russellville 56-23 on January 24.  Other recent action saw the Lady Bears fall 55-46 at Logan on January 17 and 59-25 at home to Grayson County on January 20. 

A 21-point scoring night by junior Maddy Murphy wasn't enough to left the Lady Bears past Logan County.  Butler County started strong, leading 16-8 after the first quarter and 27-21 at the half.  A strong second half, particularly in the fourth quarter, powered the Lady Cougars to the 55-46 win.

Butler County found itself on the bad end of a 59-25 score against 12th District foe Grayson County on January 20.  Facing a 20-9 first quarter deficit, the Lady Bears weren't able to recover, falling 59-25 to their border rival. 

Chloe Flener led Butler County in scoring with 7 points.

In a Sunday make-up game, Butler County defeated Whitesville Trinity 59-46 on January 22.  The Lady Bears dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Raiders 20-8.  But, Trinity rallied in the second quarter, only trailing by three - 26-23 - at halftime.  Butler County turned in a strong second half to secure the 13-point win.

Allie Easley led Butler County in scoring with 15 points; Addison Hall added 11 points.

The Lady Bears made it two in a row on January 24 with an impressive 56-23 rout of Russellville at Butler.  It was all Butler County all night as the Lady Bears jumped on top early - leading 27-8 at the half - and never looked back.

Butler County had three players in double-figures - Maddy Murphy with 12 points; Allie Easley and Addison Hall with 11 points each.

Butler County (9-10) returns to action tonight on the road at Edmonson County.  The Lady Bears will tip at 6 p.m. with the Bears to follow.  The game will be broadcast live on WLBQ 101.5 with James White and Jack Clark.
