Lady Bears fall to Todd County Central

ELKTON — Butler County suffered its first setback in the 2022-23 girls' high school basketball season as host Todd County Central prevailed to win 53-36 on Monday, Dec. 5.

Todd County Central took control early, outscoring Butler County 17-4 in the first quarter.

The Lady Bears faced a deficit throughout the girls' high school basketball game.

Todd County Central led 33-24 at halftime but faced more resistance from Butler County during the second half.

Butler County managed to outscore Todd County Central 14-11 in the third quarter but couldn't overcome the early deficit. 

Alexis Taylor scored a game-high 22 points to lead Todd County Central to the win. 

Joining Taylor in double figures for Todd County Central, Abby Williams netted 15 points.

Narrowly missing double figures for Todd County Central, Jamaia Burks added nine points. 

Ciara Collins and Jamya Kay rounded out Todd County Central's individual scoring, chipping in six points and one point, respectively. 

Taylor Leach scored 11 points to pace visiting Butler County. Accompanying Leach in double figures for the Lady Bears, Jenna Phelps netted 10 points. 

The additional scorers for Butler County in the matchup were Parker Willoughby (seven points), Ann Marie Skaggs (six points) and Kennedy Rice (two points). 

Butler County is scheduled to host Whitesville Trinity for a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Dec. 9. Tip-off for the Butler County-Whitesville Trinity matchup is set for 6 p.m.
