Lady Bears drop games to Edmonson, Hancock, Hart

MORGANTOWN - The Butler County Lady Bears dropped back-to-back games at home Friday-Saturday, falling to 12th District rival Edmonson County and 3rd Region counterpart Hancock County. 
Edmonson County pulled away to defeat the Lady Bears 60-45 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday night.
Edging Butler County in a heartbreaker, Hancock County slipped past the Lady Bears 54-53 on Saturday.
Then, in a game on Monday night, host Hart County topped Butler County 76-57.

Edmonson County 60, Butler County 45: Visiting Edmonson County shot 50 percent (22-of-44) from the field on its way to beating Butler County 60-45 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday night.
Mia Goad led Edmonson County with a game-high 15 points. Accompanying Goad in double figures for the Lady Cats, Chanley Logsdon netted 14 points and Katie Lindsey added 10 points.
Maddie Cardwell was the only Butler County player to reach double figures in the scoring column. Cardwell paced the Lady Bears with 10 points. 
Kasidy Graham, Jacie Ward and Jaelyn Taylor chipped in eight points apiece for the Lady Bears. 
The other scorers for Butler County in the loss were Taylin Clark (six points), Aubrey Clark (three points) and Hannah Chaney (two points).

Hancock County 54, Butler County 53: Visiting Hancock County forced Butler County to remain in the loss column over the weekend, edging the Lady Bears 54-53 on Saturday.
Kiera Duncan led Hancock County with a game-high 20 points. Joining Duncan in double figures for the Lady Hornets, Haven Riley added 10 points. 
Jaelyn Taylor led Butler County with a team-best 17 points. Taylor was the only Butler County player to reach double figures in the scoring column. 
Kasidy Graham netted eight points and Maddie Cardwell contributed six points for the Lady Bears.
Other scorers for Butler County in the setback were Jacie Ward (five points), Aubrey Clark (five points), Hannah Chaney (four points), Taylin Clark (four points), Gracie Cardwell (four points) and Audrey Deweese (three points).

Hart County 76, Butler County 57: Host Hart County notched its first win in the 2018-19 girls' high school basketball season on Monday night, beating Butler County 76-57. 
Jacie Ward was the only Butler County scorer to reach double figures in the loss. Ward led the Lady Bears with 13 points.
Jaelyn Taylor narrowly missed reaching double figures for the Lady Bears, netting nine points. 
Gracie Leach scored eight points while Taylin Clark contributed six points for the Lady Bears. 
Kasidy Graham (five points), Hannah Chaney (four points), Audrey Deweese (four points), Dixie Garnier (three points), Maddie Cardwell (three points), Aubrey Clark (one point) and Gracie Cardwell (one point) accounted for the rest of the Lady Bears' scoring.
 
Butler County is slated to host 3rd Region foe McLean County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
