Butler County falls to Grayson County in district game
LEITCHFIELD — Butler County came up short as Grayson County held on to win 65-61 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 31.
Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 9-10 overall and 2-2 in the 12th District.
Grayson County edged Butler County 12-11 in the opening quarter.

However, Grayson County and Butler County were tied 22-22 at halftime.
Moving back ahead and extending its lead, Grayson County led 45-39 at the conclusion of the third period.
Ava Wilson scored a team-high 23 points for the Lady Bears. Wilson connected on 10 of 14 free throw attempts.
Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs netted 11 points.
Narrowly missing double figures for Butler County, Karrington Hunt contributed nine points while Carley Cardwell added eight points.

Accounting for Butler County's additional scoring were Tinslea Belcher (seven points) and Bailey Moore (three points).
Cardwell paced Butler County inside, claiming seven rebounds.


Bears suffer district loss to Cougars
LEITCHFIELD — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Grayson County pulled away to win 103-59 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 31.
With the loss, Butler County dropped to 11-11 overall and 3-1 in the 12th District.
Grayson County edged Butler County 19-18 in the opening quarter.

The Cougars led 40-33 at halftime and controlled the entire second half.
After stretching its lead, Grayson County exited the third quarter ahead 66-47.

Briar Griffin scored a team-high 16 points for the Bears. Along with Griffin reaching double figures for Butler County, Trever Deweese scored 13 points, Justin Castlen netted 12 points and Ty Price posted 11 points.
Accounting for the rest of Butler County's scoring were Curtis Murphy (three points), Case Hooten (two points) and Cainan Vincent (two points).
