KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Butler County

On Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 just after 5:00 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was requested by the Butler County Sheriff's Office to investigate a fatal collision in Butler County. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision located on I-165 near the 31 mile marker.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Jacob  A. Whitefield, 22, of Bowling Green, was operating a 2012 Nissan Maxima northbound on I-165 near the 31 mile marker.  Whitefield's vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and crossed the grass median.  Whitefield's vehicle continued into the southbound lane of travel striking a 2018 Ford Escape being operated by Lauren G. Marr, 27, of Bowling Green.  Lauren G. Marr was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Butler County Coroner's Office. Jacob Whitefield was flown from the scene by Air Evac to Skyline Hospital in Nashville.  

The investigation is being led by Trooper Bo Hubbard. He was assisted at the scene by Butler County EMS, Butler County Sheriff's Office, Butler County Coroner, Air Evac, and KSP personnel.
