Kelly's Salon Re-Opening

Dreams do come true!

Four years ago, Kelly McKinney made a sketch of what her salon would eventually look like and this past Saturday her dream was fulfilled.  The Chamber of Commerce, Kelly’s family, and friends helped with her Grand Re-Opening Celebration.  Kelly made a heartfelt speech about her journey, thanking the many people that have helped since closing in March of 2020 because of the pandemic.

Mayor Billy Phelps praised Kelly and stated that this is a completely new business.  Everything has been upgraded, from the outside to the new furnishings inside.  Chamber of Commerce President Tristan Klein mentioned how proud everyone was and the Chamber would happily help Kelly promote her business. Butler County Judge Executive Tim Flener praised Kelly for her work and commitment to the community stating that the salon business was near and dear to his heart, as his mother ran a salon for many years.

Kelly mentioned her brother, Dwayne McKinney, her parents, Sam and Joyce McKinney, and her family.  She thanked them for all their love, support, and always helping to reach her goals. There were many that helped in making this dream come true, Morgantown Bank, Jarrod Duke Contracting- Harlen Dockery, Parrish Electric, Williams Flooring, Dennis Cardwell- Dry Wall, Dennie Bratcher- Drywall Finish, Grise Carpentry  - Trim, Cox Interior, Yewell Plumbing, Kidy and Mack Embry- Painting, Drakes Farm Service  - Paint and Landscaping, Ashby Flooring, DMC Graphics, Steve's Seamless Gutters, Bowling Green Blinds, Dennis Lasiter – Sealing and Striping, and many others.

In 1994, she graduated Cosmetology School and began her career in this same building that she purchased in 2009.  This building looks completely new today.

Emily of Freida T's Flowers was set up and helped celebrate with her beautiful homegrown flowers.

As her journey continues, Kelly is looking to hire for her business.  She has already found McKiney Clemons, who will start styling in February.

Kelly's daughter McKinzey Clemons will join her at the salon in February.
