The 35th Annual Green River Road Race went off without a hitch last weekend and two Butler County runners claimed the top two spots in the staple Catfish Festival event.

Nolan Johnson, age 18, was the top overall runner with a time of 30:43 in the Morgantown to Woodbury 5-mile challenging course.  Jordan Green, age 25, finished in second place overall with a time of 31:20.  Belle Thomas, age 27, of Glasgow, was the top female runner and finished in fourth place overall with a time of 32:58.  Rebecca Mudd, age 51, was the first Butler County female runner to cross the finish line with a time of 53:42.

Jeff Whittinghill served as the race director.  A long-time competitive runner, Whittinghill, age 53, took part in the race and finished in ninth place overall with a time of 36:40.

Sponsors for the 2016 Green River Road Race include Glen Whittinghill, State Senator C.B. Embry Jr., Final Finish, Butler County Family Clinic, and Morgantown Bank & Trust.  All participants received a complimentary t-shirt. 

Awards were given for first and second place in the Men's and Women's Divisions in the following age categories:
